The existing symbol mark was renewed to revitalize the university brand in commemoration of its 70th anniversary by excising decorative elements and clearly conveying the founding philosophy of NOVA APERIO (opening new), the year of establishment, and key elements. The 'ㅊ' and 'ㅂ' in the shield represent the first and second letters of Chungbuk National University, and the '大' in the middle is a Chinese character for 'big and wide', 'high and noble', and 'outstanding' and symbolizes the university, the hall of Chinese literature. . The outline symbolizes the unity and connection of Gaesin people.

For the English mark, the uppercase letter ‘CBNU’, the English abbreviation of our university, is expressed as lowercase letter ‘cbnu’ to make students feel more familiar. Lowercase English marks convey a youthful and emotional feeling and have the advantage of being highly readable when applied to digital media such as mobile devices, so there is a recent trend of global companies replacing their logos with lowercase logos. The waves flowing from the left to the right of the logo represented the dynamism of the university.
